Seriously? Do birds ever get rabid? This critter was trying to get into the house, I swear! And, he started out on the carport where the sound REALLY echoes and resonates, and his bird-noise sounded *exactly* like a large dog barking…. Scared the you-know-what outta me till I figured out what was going on.
Now, this wasn’t the first time I’d heard them, just the first tkme I’d seen them…. So I was trying to capture it for TBG to see when he got home, because I had this feeling that he *really* didn’t believe me when I told him there was a crazy barking Dubai bird that came to our house……
OK, hope you can hear it, because I promise you, its wicked weird!
So cute…. I agree, he didn’t look very friendly.
Debbie, I luv reading your posts and wondered if you ever got around to posting about the Junsui afternoon tea. Your post with all the pics on the Burj Al Arab was superb, it would be great to also see your thoughts on the tea. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Yikes! I’ve started it, but it’s simply not quite finished yet. Thank you for the nudge – I’ll get working on it again today.
You are more than welcome DebbieT…..so many posts out there on the afternoon tea at the skyview bar but not enough on the Junsui. I will be going in November for the 1st time to Dubai and have booked the Junsui which is why I am so keen. I will wait patiently for your post as I am sure it will be worth it!

OK, you know I’m a bird nut. I think your bird is a Grey Francolin, aka Grey Partridge. Cool bird! And yeah, I think he was fighting his reflection. 🙂 Now, for your next assignment, I want to to see and photograph… a hoopoe!
Wowza, I shoulda figured you’d know, I’d forgotten you’re a fan of the winged critters. And, fighting his reflection? Sheesh. Tons less interesting than what I had in mind….lol. Hey, remind me, I have video of a wild turkey at Walt Disney World in the parking lot attacking vehicles. Now THAT was a crazy bird too!
A hoopoe? Seriously, Karen, a hoopoe?? Sheesh.
Do you already know about this list? Could it be one of the sandgrouses? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_birds_of_the_United_Arab_Emirates#Sandgrouse
Hey, I did NOT know about that list. Interesting, you do come up with some interesting stuff! I’ll take a closer look and see if I can tell which bird it might be – dang loud would be my first descriptor – mercy! Thanks for the info and for following along!
