OK, so here’s a video of me tasting camel’s milk for the first time…… it’s our first attempt. I think we need better lighting….. <Smile>
Note to self – speak slower. Even though you’re a Yankee, it’s easier for people to understand you if you speak more slowly. And mercy, get better lighting!!!
Edited to add this nutrition label for the chocolate milk!
Funny! I was just talking to some moms who give their kids camel milk b/c they are allergic to cow’s milk. They said to be careful because it has a lot of estrogen in it. Who knew?!
Wow – I had no idea about the estrogen….. but it’s some odd-tasting milk, that’s for sure. Not really nasty, just salty and odd……
You said it tastes salty. What is the sodium content on the nutrition label?
I did… and sadly, the bottle from the white milk is gone. But I have the chocolate one and will figure out how to add another photo in there. One thing to remember though – all countries do not have the same labeling requirements….. That’s an interesting question, though and I shall try to remember to check that when we go to the grocery next. Thanks for asking!
I LOVED the part where you questioned whether or not it was racist to call it white milk, you are definitely a Southerner because I think we’re the only ones who are so hypersensitive about that. LOVED THIS VIDEO, but I still wanna try camel’s milk. I’m also finding myself thinking wistfully about moving to Dubai..
Christy, I have lived in the deep south for many many many years, and I agree that we are hypersensitive to racial issues. Sad, isn’t it? I asked my husband to try the milk, and his description was a bit different to mine – “Tastes like the backroom smelled in an electrical supply warehouse I worked in as a kid”. ::shudder:: Thanks for following along – I feel pretty cool, knowing you’ve been on the Paula Deen show and all…. woot!! Y’all check out http://www.southernplate.com if you haven’t already. Hers was one of only 3 cookbooks I brought here to Dubai with me.
And now we know. WHEW! Brave Brave soul! Loved the video!
LOL – it was so late, and I was exhausted….. but I had TBG and he agreed to do it, so we did. Maybe we’ll get better. Or maybe not.
Loved the video! I’m not sure I’d enjoy a salty milk. Just odd. Is cow’s milk readily available in stores there?
Yes, cow’s milk is readily available – but after all the benefits I’d read about camel’s milk I was truly hoping that I’d love it, you know?? Thanks for following along!!
